Happy April, Let's Get Intentional
Happy April. I decided to try something new and share my monthly intentions, as well as few favorites. I first learned about monthly intentions from my favorite blogger, Georgie Morley. (You may recognize her from my MVP page where I shared her Instagram account as one of my all-time favorites.) It took me a bit of time to realize the true purpose of these monthly intentions, and how they were different from a task list or goal tracking. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this tool, allow me to briefly explain (from my own personal understanding).
What are monthly intentions?
Monthly intentions are a way for you to mindfully and honestly make note of certain physical or emotional growth that you’d like to focus on for that particular month. The key is to be nonjudgmental, and offer yourself patience if your month does not play out as planned. Monthly intentions are not as pertinent or time sensitive as a task list, and often times there aren’t any visible progress points. You are the only one who can truly assess your achievements here. I wanted to start noting my April Intentions because I believe that sometimes just getting your thoughts down on paper is the first step towards making real progress. It takes some honest soul searching to dig up these internal needs and wants for ourselves, and I think it’s great practice. We should always strive to be in touch with our inner truth, and I think tracking my monthly intentions is a great tool for that.
I have noticed that the overarching theme for my April intentions seems to be stress reduction methods, which makes sense given everything going on in the world right now. I am going to be very forgiving if I don’t do this perfectly, since it is my first swing at monthly intentions, and I suggest you offer yourself the same allowance every once in a while. There are enough people in the world ready to offer us criticism, so I choose to be supportive of myself (as best I can).
