May Life Update
If you don’t mind, I’m going to skip over most of the COVID-19 related updates and content. I feel like the internet, and entertainment in general, is highly saturated with Corona virus news and I know many people are eager to change the topic. I am in no way trying to downplay the severity of the current situation, I am simply just trying to offer a reprieve from the stress and anxiety that comes along with such a serious topic.
I am safe, healthy, and following all health guidelines during this time. My family and friends are all safe and healthy as well.
I will confess…I’m one of those people currently obsessed with Animal Crossing New Horizons. I’m sorry if you’re also sick of hearing about this topic- I know this game is currently taking over the internet, and if you’re not within the fandom it can be irritating to hear about it 24/7. With that in mind, I’m not going to dump more Animal Crossing content on you in this post. Instead, If you are interested, I am coming out with an entire post dedicated to Animal Crossing. So, if that appeals to you, be on the lookout for that in the next few days.

I’ve been able to catch up on plenty of Netflix and YouTube these past few weeks, so I have several recommendations to share with ya’ll. (like how I slipped in that southern slang right there? This northerner has been practicing…)
Texas Anniversary
May 11th marks one year since I moved to Texas, which is a really important milestone for me. I have grown so much in this past year, I honestly feel like a completely different person sometimes. The ways that I’ve matured as a person may seem very trivial, and probably well overdue, but I still believe they are worth celebrating. The fact that I applied my own research to find a dentist in Texas, submitted all the proper paperwork as a new patient, and scheduled appointments on my own, THAT is something I’m proud of. Sure, I’m 25 years old, I’m an adult, I should be expected to do those things by now. On the flip side though, as a 25 year old, I think it’s honorable that I even took the time to find a new dentist instead of just ditching that responsibility entirely. I would have much bought new shoes with that $60 copay I had to fork over, but I knew getting routine dentist appointments was important. Enough about the dentist already…
In a lot of ways the distance has really strengthened my relationship with my family. We often take things for granted when they become such a routine part of our lives. I am noticing certain things about my family, and our little traditions, that I now know are rare and beautiful. For example, the way my Mom still pretends the Easter Bunny is real, and spends so much time creating these super personalized baskets for Easter morning….like who else does that??! The distance and allowed me to gain perspective on some really special aspects of my life, that I now cherish more than ever.
Things I Don't Regret Buying
-May Edition-
I recently had an epiphany about my ADHD and I believe these might helpful in managing those less favorable symptoms. I’ll be tracking my experience with these supplements so be looking for an update about this soon.
Texas is really starting to warm up and my office can get pretty warm sometimes, especially with all the computers going at once. Also, sometimes I just get sick of the stagnent stale air that you get in a confined office without windows. So, I ordered this fan and have never looked back.
This was another much-needed improvement to my office life. I’ve thrown out my back before and struggled with sciatic nerve pain (most likely caused by the way I sit) so I needed some type of support at work. I used to get throbbing shoulder and back pain throughout the day, but this cushion has drastically changed that. It’s inexpensive, comfortable, discreet, and extremely effective in my case. Definitely one of my better ideas…
This is easily the best shirt that I own. I’m not even being dramatic, it checks all the boxes for me. It is SOFT like a nice fleece throw blanket, it’s loose fitting so I feel comfortable in it, AND it looks great on. I’m obsessed with it, and I’ve already ordered it another color (I currently have it in ‘Charcoal’ but I’m ordering it in ‘Olive’ as well.)
I will never regret this purchase. It’s cute, it’s funny, it’s slightly grunge- What more could I ask for? My favorite blogger, Georgie Morley, wears this crew neck all the time on her Instagram (@georgiemorley) and I became obsessed with it very quickly. I’ve put it on my Christmas list for two years in a row, to no avail- so I finally bought it for myself. Self-care!
