We all know what it's like to receive random bits of wisdom from parents, grandparents, teachers, bosses, ect. (even if it's unsolicited...)
Sometimes we store it away for safe keeping, and sometimes it's completely disregarded. I've jotted down a couple snippets of life advice that someone, somewhere, gave me along the way...and for some reason it just stuck with me. Here are a few that immediately come to mind.
- If you're going to have an argument or emotional discussion with someone, do it in a way that can't be saved or screenshot
- Always carry $20 in your car for emergencies
- You teach people how to treat you
- A good apology comes with an action statement
- You can be right, or you can be happy
- If you're uneasy about an expensive purchase- go home, wait 3 days. If you still think it's a a good idea, go back and get it.
- Learn how to jumpstart a car
- In college, everybody is faking it. Everybody is homesick, worried about money, failing some class, and struggling to keep up- just like you.
- Follow the path that scares you
- Carry pepper spray
- Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission
- If it feels wrong, it's wrong
- Only lend money that you can afford to lose
- Not every friend needs to be a BEST friend. Some friendships are just for fun.
- High School/college/your 20s are not the best years of your life. The best years of your life take place much later- when you're 50 something years old driving to the post office with your husband/wife in the passenger seat, and your kids in the back, because finally you have everything you've been working for.
